What I Got In The Mail?!

Don't mind the white scribbles, just don't want to share my safe haven!
Okay, so don't judge me! I love this movie and it was really cheap on That's Entertainment!

My true love, once again from That's Entertainment.

H&M Skirt which was on sale (score)! It's more of a navy in real life..and less glittery. The pains with flash eh?

I'm already almost finished! Just a good read! And on sale on amazon.co.uk

So my stuff came in the mail this week. All a little late but at least they came in a bunch. I promise I wasn't paid to promote any companies mentioned on here, just reading the captions, it makes it sound so.

This is my last 'splurge', I guess you could call it, for a while. I seriously need to start saving now, I have very limited source of income and I need to learn to love what I have and stop thinking I can be a big spender, you're only a big spender if you have spends to be big with...I unfortunatly don't. Although I will lurk near car-boot sales and charity shops, maybe if I wish upon a star, as dreamers do, something amazing will fall out of the sky!

Killing Time...

I've got like 23 minutes before I have to leave for college, not that anyone cares or is gonna read this. I have no idea what to do except make a post about how I'm not doing anything. Ultimately, I'm waiting for people to email me back about the Leaving Hogwarts piano sheet music by John Williams. I have sent out a lot of emails through pianofiles.com just praying that someone will get back to me and give me it so I can print it off, that's why I'm going to college mainly...

I have considered buying an electronic version however I will never buy from musicnotes.com again so you can forget that idea. Other than that, I can't find a reasonably priced piece or individually, it's mainly just in book form. Damn, why didn't I ask my first piano teacher to photocopy all of the songs that were in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone book. She got it on sale too...why am I so unlucky sometimes. Mind, this did happen like 3 years ago so maybe if I looked...

19 minutes. Okay, so I ache from my workout yesterday. I added a muscle workout from Pump It Up to my usual routine and I feel the burn. I like being in pain, it makes me feel like I did a decent workout. However, on my treadmill, the belt has been slipping for quite some time to the left side, and I've just realised that for some reason I thought it was to the right so I've been tightening the belt on the right. I don't understand how that's a 'however' or why you would care. Well my dad fixed it for me today, whilst my mam checked it by running. I wasn't there but the way I'm imagining it is pretty darn hilarious....

It's quite a sunny day today in my home town, I was on the bus coming home from college and I was staring at the sky and clouds, do you realise how gnarly and radical it looks. It's so bizarrely clear and beautiful. Thankfully, no one was sitting behind me whilst I was in awe of the sky.

15 minutes. Maybe I should go back my bag for my lesson. Don't want to be late....or do we...no we don't.

Catch ya later!

11 Ways To Make Life Happier!

Everyone seeks out to be happier in life, and why wouldn't you? Below I conjured up a list of things I believe will improve everyone's perspective on life!

1) Stop Caring What Other People Think
Easier said than done eh? How I put this tip into action is by simply saying 'why do I care what other people think' when I start to worry that others may judge me. Simple but effective...well for me.

2) Breathe Before You Get Angry
When we're angry we say things and do things in the heat of the moment. To prevent severe regret, before lashing out, take a breath and count to 10. In as little as 10 seconds you'll rationalise your actions and prevent some possible problems.

3) Write 5 Things You're Grateful For Every Night
...or every day, depending on your preference. This works especially well when you're just a little disgruntled and feeling the blues, writing down just 5 things you're grateful for puts everything in perspective and makes you feel happier and more grateful about life.

4) Don't Judge Others
As said in Mean Girls, making fun of someone else or judging someone else won't make your life better. Just ditch the bitchiness and you'll see yourself becoming a nicer, happier person!

5) Do What You Love
Life's too short to waste it doing something to make someone else happy rather than yourself. Obviously, I'm not saying stop feeling compassion and just look out for yourself, what I'm saying is don't strive in life to make others happy and disregard what you want which leads me onto my next point...

6) Help Others
A bit paradoxical with 5) but you need to find the line. Helping others makes you feel like a good person. I volunteered at a charity and just knowing you're helping a cause makes you think 'hey I'm a decent person' and I think everyone wants to be at the least, a decent person.

7) Read
Reading is something you can't mimic. Watching movies is great and all but reading books brings things to a new level. The level of description and emotion put into novels can't be portrayed on television, it just can't be done. And I don't believe anyone who says 'I don't like to read', that's impossible. That's like saying I don't like to watch movies. It's just about finding the right preference.

8) Be Healthy
A healthy colon is a happy mind! I've seen a drastic improvement on my attitude towards life when I began to run regularly and eat healthier. There's no reason not to be healthy, it gives you everything you would want.

9) Meditation
I haven't tried a regular meditation routine but it is highly recommended. I've read that meditation is a soul cleanser, it relaxes you and if you do it enough, it will bring you to the highest level of meditation, 'feeling at peace with the earth'. Sounds quite gnarly.

10) Explore
What fun is life if you can't explore the world. Even exploring your city is enough. What I would recommend is take a bus or train anywhere, don't plan it, and just see where it takes you. I've done this before. I just got on a bus and let the day unravel. It's such a spontaneous thing, you just never know what you'll find or who you'll meet.

11) Be Happy Alone
When I was younger, I didn't have a lot of friends which forced me to find entertainment by myself. This is a great trait to have because it makes you more independent and happy with yourself. I love to be alone, don't get me wrong, my friends are great, but when you're alone, there's no 'guidelines' as such. You can do anything you want and you don't have to cater to other people's needs. So learn it and love it!

Thanks for reading and tell me what you think!

Titanic 3D

Titanic was re-released in 3D in cinema's on Friday 6th April 2012 in the UK to commermorate the 100th year anniversary of the sinking of the ship on April 14/15th 1912. Many lives were lost, 1,517 people died out of a grand 2,223 passengers. A heartbreaking story and movie, just listening to Rose by James Horner tears me up and makes me want to go into a dark corner and bawl.

A modern classic love story between a poor (but beautiful) boy and rich "spoiled brat" girl who fall in love, but if I even have to explain that, then why are you reading this and not watching the film? Unfortunately it doesn't end the way we all want but you can't change history, fictional or not.

Yesterday I went to see it in 3D. I was prepared for it to be 'not all that', the 3D thing not the film! Every 3D film I've ever went to see at the cinema has been nothing amazing! Take for example Avatar, I would of have been just as happy paying less money for 2D, I love 2D, it very rarely disappoints! The glasses usually drain the colour from the movie and give me a headache. Titanic in 3D, however, was quite marvelous.

It isn't like you may except, in which you feel like if the ship jumps, you jump (please get the reference), but it is a nice effect to have when watching the movie. The 3D does, to put it simply, bring everything forward and gives things more dimension. For example, the characters come out a little more, the water drops look quite real etc. But if you can't or don't want to see it in 3D, you're really not missing out on much. The 3D neither adds to the film or takes anything away.  But what I will say is that you must, must, must see it on the big screen. It's quite an experience if you've never had the chance to!

What can I say? Titanic was brilliant, 24 hours later and I'm still a little depressed. Just a beautiful job done to make us feel that much towards fictional characters. I can't help thinking of all these What if's. Indeed Kate Winslet, what if you'd have never let him go, would he be the man you use to know...but I guess we'll never know.

Props to the beautiful Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio for bringing us such an enchanting tale.

13 Places You Should Visit in Your Lifetime!

*In no particular order.

1) Paris, France
Known as the most romantic city in the world, but if you're not in love, never fear, it's not like paper hearts fall from the sky and you have to stroll two by two down what they call 'la rue'. There is so much to see, so much money to spend and so much weight to gain from the delicious pain au chocolat and croissants that you'll soon be wanting to wear a striped top, capri-tan trousers and a beret whilst smoking a pipe and walking by the Sienne.

2) Las Vegas, Nevada
Who hasn't wanted to live the Vegas dream. Martini's, suits and an endless flow of chips. Have you seen Swingers? There is more to Vegas than gambling if you're not into that scene, however. You have the drunk marriages, Cher impersonators, wacky hotels and crazy food! It's endless glamour! Everyone has to go to Las Vegas once in their life! Just wait til I'm 21!

3) Egypt
If you're fascinated by Ancient History, and who isn't, this will be a historical heaven. Seeing the Pyramids and the Sphinx will mark down one out of 7 for the Seven Wonders of the World. Such History, culture and artifacts in scorching heat makes Egypt one of the most interesting countries in the world and a must-see before you die.

4) Italy
There's no way you can tell someone to only visit one city in Italy. There's Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples, Milan, Verona etc. Each city gives you something different so if you're going to Italy, I suggest you go all over the country, however if only one is available to you, the most popular tends to be Rome as it is the capital. Full of history and architecture, you can't go wrong!

5) London, United Kingdom
Blimey governor, can I have some 'ore? Indeed the home of Oliver Twist, the red double decker bus and the cockeny accent, London maintains a very 'British' atmosphere. Perfect for a short holiday as all the tourist spots are all sectioned together so there's no much need to explore. When I went, I got through all the major attractions in one day and spent the next day shopping and hitting the museums. Not an ancient historical location but nevertheless fascinating and beautiful to visit!

6) Berlin, Germany
A fascinating history and culture, Germany's capital, Berlin, maintains attractions such as Berlin Philharmonic, museums and The Holocaust Memorial bringing endless sight seeing! A captivating past and a beautiful language makes Berlin a must go!

7) Vancouver, Canada
Canada, America's sister, holds some of the worlds most beautiful views. Vancouver, a city where the ocean meets the mountains, is perfect for those who want to experience a laid back yet enchanting holiday. To miss such beauty in your lifetime would be a regret you carry to your grave (not to be morbid or anything).

8) Tokyo, Japan
Who wouldn't want to visit Japan. To us British, it's a completely different world! The home of what seems like such a complex yet beautiful language, fascinating people and anime, Tokyo is the heart and capital of Japan and contains everything you would want. Not only will the museums captivate a foreigner, but also the daily life of a Japan.

9) India
If you're going to visit India, you must visit Arga, Shimla, Goa and Mumbai. On this journey you'll come across unmissable attractions such as the iconic Taj Mahal, a taste of the Himalayas and stunning beaches. Moreover, in Mumbai, you'll experience India the way it should be experienced with an infinite list of activities and opportunities in the home of Indian cinema.

10) New York, USA
New York, New York, there's a reason Frank Sinatra sang about one of the most iconic cities in the world. A city known for Broadway, yellow taxi cabs, skyscrapers and making dreams come true, not experiencing new york, Cyndi Lauper would shake her head in disappointment and shame. Truly the melting pot of America, if you never experience the phrase 'If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere' the way it should be said, you, my friend, have not lived.

11) Beijing, China
Home of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games brings Beijing's rich heritage and culture a must see for everyone. Experience iconic attractions such as the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven and much more whilst you lose yourself in an experience that comes once in a lifetime.

12) Jerusalem, Israel
The capital of Isreal and one of the oldest cities in the world makes Jerusalem an unmissable destination. Heart of some of the worlds religion and politics and containing some of the worlds most beautiful holy architecture, you have to see it to believe it!

13) Athens, Greece
Endless History in one of the worlds oldest cities, again, Athens holds such beauty with architecture and culture that missing such an opportunity to transport back into ancient History holds such regret and loss that you won't realise could have been possible until you experience Athens.

On My Nails?!

Currently, I'm wearing Lemon Ice-Cream by Barry M on my nails with a base coat of Sally Hansen's Double Duty base coat/top coat. I usually don't wear nail polishes as they always end up smudged or dented, no matter how much I leave them but with this base coat, they don't look too shabby. Also, it seems that if I wear nail polish for a long period of time, my nails start to make like a banana and split. Usually, my nails tend to be quite strong but it seems nail polish is my nails kryptonite.

Laugh at me as I show you my hand modelling fails...I'm really new at this....

The typical pose, not very good but I think the shadowing is quite artistic...no?...no...
Sometimes I don't even know what I'm doing...technology is very confusing.
I really tried to make this look like I wasn't a bear poser.

I tend to have quite bad blood circulation in my hands resulting in them being cold all the time and they also tend to get quite dry and wrinkled so I use this Wilko Hand and Nail Cream only available in Wilkinson in the UK. I'm not sure how well this works but it smells so freakin' good! It smells like raw Cocoa, not the artificial stuff but the hardcore real thing! I want to eat my hands sometimes but I control myself!

Procrastination!

I am really tired right now, I can literally feel my eyes drooping but I can't be bothered to revise or move from this seat.
Things I was going to do today;
  • Revise for my A-Levels
  • Read my book
  • Finish season 1 of Veronica Mars
  • Workout
  • Tidy up
I finished Veronica Mars and I worked out so overall not a bad days work however I have been saying that I will revise for my A-Levels for like 3 days. Bloody hell...

Anyhoo...I really want to go downstairs and brush my teeth then crawl to bed, however, it's simply not meant to be. For me to get to that place of Utopia, I have obstacles to tackle that are not going to be tackled. Man, I really need to get my priorities in check. I'm also going to a car-boot sale tomorrow morning so in an ideal world, I should be asleep...but I'm not...so close, yet so far.

So the last season of Desperate Housewives is shaping up pretty nicely huh? I kind of forgot what happened to Ana and damn that Orson is a sonuvabitch! Gossip Girl was very good indeed, mental note, it's on tomorrow. I promise I will revise tomorrow...I swear. To be fair, I said that yesterday.

Okay...I'm going to go, I promise. Just change the font, add a picture and publish this waste-of-time-for-procrastinating-whilst-watching-family-guy post.

Happy living
xoxo

If you made it this far, well done. In reward, I will tell you something, something that will blow your mind so much you will be dead. Here it is:
You can dance if you want to, you can leave your friends behind, 'cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance then they're no friends of mine.

Where Are You Veronica Mars?!

Oh Veronica Mars, you sassy vixen. Why will I only ever know 3 years of your life, it seems our relationship will forever be at a moot point!

Who is Veronica Mars, you may be thinking. Well, in response to your question, I express a little disappointment towards you, pity and understanding. Firstly, I hang my head in shame that you are not even aware of this physical piece of perfection and I feel a little bad for you, however I understand, Veronica Mars is underrated, most gems tend to be...

However, if you are understand me when I say, Veronica Mars, she's a marshmallow, I welcome you my fellow fiend (geddit?) and I have great respect for your media taste and I hope we band together in our goal to make the world believe on our beloved Veronica Mars.

So what the frack is Veronica Mars? Well, you sheltered one, it is about a teenage girl (Kristen Bell) who strives along side her dad, Keith (Enrico Colantoni) in their private investigation business. Each season (unfortunately only three) brings a new crime that brings each episode closer to uncovering the truth. Veronica Mars isn't your average girl, she's Veronica Mars living in Neptune. The Mars family are galaxies apart from Neptune.

So why does this piece of gold hold a place so close to my heart. It's Rob Thomas, the little genius, the writing is witty, sassy and hold a word that should not be used lightly, epicness, something you very rarely see in TV nowadays. And look at the faces of the cast, how can you not love such a lineup?

(Left to right) Ryan Hansen, Kyle Galner, Tessa Thompson, Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Jason Dohring and Francis Capra.
Veronica Mars is one of those shows that make you smarter when you watch it. With each episode I watch, I can feel my IQ rising with Kristen Bell's smart-ass remarks! I sometimes find myself just regurgitating what she says in daily conversation.

Oh, stop it you!

Reasons to watch Veronica Mars

  1. The more recognition it gets, hopefully the more likely that a Veronica Mars movie or new series will be made. The fans are on board and so are the cast, the only ones left to convince are CW. We have to prove that enough people want more Ronnie Mars!
  2. As said before, it will literally make you smarter (unless you're a lost cause). Just watch it and you will be able to complete addition and multiplication faster. If no positive results are obtained, at least you were entertained, I hold no responsibility for any disappointment, cleverness wise.
  3. How would you rather be spending your time? Completing your life goals? Revision? No. You would rather be watching Veronica Mars...capiche?
  4. One of these days, Veronica Mars is gonna be big, do you want to be the person who had the good sense to figure out it's awesomeness before?
  5. Every single character is amazing. Every one of them. They are so well written and developed that you will hold a place for them so dear to you that not even your family does.
  6. If you're into fashion, you'll swoon over Veronica's wardrobe. Strangely, although she's supposed to be poor, she has quite an expensive and pricey wardrobe. Hmmm...
  7. LoVe. Logan and Veronica. Match made in a slightly questionable heaven but heaven no less.
  8. Enrico Colantoni makes me wish sometimes he was my father. He's a cool dad ya see!
  9. Everyone wants a hip best friend like Wallace Fennel and his obsession with snickerdoodles.
  10. All the ways in which Veronica meddles and commits felonies gives us all more ways to meddle and break into places and commit felonies without getting caught and beaten up.
Once you have watched at least one episode, please come back and do tell what you think. We'll be waiting. Here's a little preview for ya...

Why the Hate for Lana Del Rey?

So Lana Del Rey...I had no idea who this chick was until I heard my friend talking about how much she loved her, because you see I don't really listen to chart music...it's just too mainstream. I decided to YouTube it as anyone would do and I listened to 'Born To Die'. Now this was a beautiful voice and I fell in love instantly. I then went on to listen to Video Games and Blue Jeans and thought 'hey, this girl is really talented'.

Lana fascinated me, she had such an unusual and beautiful voice, described as a 'Gangsta Nancy Sinatra'. Then, while Google-ing lovely Lana Del Rey, I came across some articles that didn't quite praise her. There seemed to be a lot of hate and I had no clue why, I was then directed towards her SNL performance.

It was quite bad. I'm not going to lie. I wanted this to be just a one-time bad performance, so I searched more of her live performances and I found better ones but they weren't that good. I had lost hope. I wanted Lana Del Rey to be just as good live as she was in the recording studio...then I found this...

What I realised was that her voice became so much better in small crowds. She's obviously nervous performing, I get nervous speaking in front of my class. Watching interviews with her, it's clear that she's quite shy so I don't blame her for her bad performances. She'll improve as she becomes less 'new'! I just feel so bad for her, all these hater comments are doubtfully going to help Lana's self confidence and performance value in big crowds.

Surprisingly for me, the album 'Born to Die' didn't get a whole lot of great reviews. Jon Caramanica from The New York Times wrote
"This is album as anticlimax, the period that ends the essay, not the beginning of a new paragraph"
I genuinely thought, although she may be bad live, her unique voice and lyrics on her album would blow that out of the water. Yeah...not the case...

I did some research and a lot of hate comes from the fact that her lips are less than 'usual'. A great portion of that hate comes from indies and hipsters. They claim that she is 'unauthentic' and 'artificial'. Other's also believe that she's just a product of the media, by giving her the name 'Lana Del Rey' from Lizzy Grant (her original name), it's shows that she's just expected to be loved and it hasn't allowed for a proper fan base to be built. Okay, so I get why people would dislike her, but to hate her seems a bit extreme, especially for someone who's just came into the big-time music scene!

So what do you think of dear old Lana Del Rey, do you hate her? If so, please share why, I get why people dislike her but I don't understand why hate! It seems a bit overboard!

Thanks for reading!

Things to Bring on 1.5 Weeks in Paris, Sightseeing

I went to Paris not too long ago and I ended up bringing way too much stuff. I was just going to use my suitcase as carry-on luggage because there is no way I'm paying the extortionate prices of check-in luggage. Anyway, my suitcase was quite an awkward shape so when me, my mother and brother were leaving to come back to England, as the woman checked the size of our 'carry-on' luggage, it did not meet the requirements...we somehow meddled our way to make it carry-on but it was a moment I would not like to relive, holding up the veeery long queue, the angry stares...

1) Bring a secure suitcase that doesn't expand a lot when you put more stuff in for hand luggage!
I would recommend that you get a suitcase reasonably small, to see the requirements of size for hand luggage, check your plane company's website.

The problem with the first suitcase is that if you don't fill it up all your stuff falls all over the place and when you buy things at your destination, it gets bigger, whereas with the second suitcase, it's compact so you can try to put as much stuff in there and it won't expand!

2) Bring a list and a map!
The map prices in Paris tended to be a bit..iffy. Luckily for me, I came prepared and I just borrowed a Paris sightseeing book from the library and used the brilliant map it had! As we did go for sightseeing, before we left, me and my mother conjured up a list of places we want to see. This meant that we avoided disappointment (almost) when we left to come back home and we knew we saw everything we wanted to see! I'm not sure if all maps come with this already, but get a map that shows you the Parisian metro links and what not, it makes life a lot easier!

3) Bring more than one camera
Tragedy may strike. You may lose the only camera you have. Or it may run out of battery and you have no way of charging it! It happens so don't think it won't happen to you. I only recently got my Olympus bridge camera so when me, my mother and brother went, we were old school and used the camera's on our crappy mobile's. Actually, my mam's phone's camera is sort of very good so I don't knock it! Good thing with us is that we had three different camera's at hand, so it wasn't that bad if my mam's camera ran out of battery, we had backups, bad backups but backups nevertheless! If you travel a lot, I would definitely invest in a very good camera! You'll simply chirp when you look back on the photo's and think 'how did I ever get by?'

4) Don't bring too much clothing!
It is almost guaranteed that if you bring too much clothing on holiday, you're not gonna wear everything. I had this problem, I packed too much and bought too much in Paris hence the suitcase dilemma. Think strategically. Pick you're favourite pair of jeans that aren't heavy, I love the Topshop MOTO ones, pick maybe 2-3 tops that are versatile, a pair of shorts, a skirt, tights, a jumper/cardigan, wear your coat on the way to the airport and you're good to go. Obviously, don't forget underwear and socks and pyjamas! You don't want to bring too much, why would you when you can splash the cash in one of the fashion capitals of the world. Bring an extra pair of shoes if you would like. If you're going for sightseeing purposes, bring trainers or something comfortable because your feet will hurt like hell! Before I left for Paris, I was worried about my clothing that it wouldn't be 'fashion forward' and the French would judge me. They don't care. So if that was a worry for you, let it slide.

5) Bring Toiletries!
Don't forget your beloved toothpaste, toothbrush, loofah, shower gel and other cleaning essentials. If you forget something, don't cry about it, French people need to get clean to so there will be whatever you need just waiting for you. The only thing you shouldn't forget is makeup! Finding the exact products that work on your face can be hard in a foreign country, so just don't do it! I still have the French shower gel that I bought, no one has used it up...

Here's a useful list of junk to put in the trunk... http://theplaidsuitcase.com/packing-tips/what-cosmetics-and-toiletries-to-pack-on-vacation.html *Note, if you're staying at a budget hotel, bring a travel sized shampoo and conditioner, those hotels tend to be a little steep on the price front!

6) Bring Knowledge
Definitely bring some knowledge about where you're staying. When I went, me and my companions would of saved a ton of money if we knew that there was a Lidl not too far from our hotel. Instead we went to an overpriced grocery store to buy food. Just knowing the area a little before you leave can make your experience so much easier. If you don't want to do that, spend time exploring in the first few days where you're staying...you may find some *leprechauns!
*Leprechauns are unlikely in France.

7) Bring a Phrase Book!
This is such an important thing to bring. Before even leaving for France, I would try to memorise some basic words and phrases such as 'Je ne parle pas Francais' (I don't speak French) and 'Parlez vous Anglais?' (Do you speak English?) I still remember these phrases because I just made myself remember. Don't expect everyone to speak English, don't be that person! Even if you speak French awfully, trust me when I say they'll appreciate your effort instead of just bawling at them in English and expecting them to understand. Most people that I came into contact with did speak English but the French are a proud nation, respect that and get a phrase book! *We used the one below!

8) Bring Money
No brainer huh? My mother ended up spending way too much money on our trip. Worth it nevertheless but still too much money. I would recommend you plan everyday if you're into that so you avoid overspending. We kind of just went with it, strangely most of the money was spent on food. If you want to stick to a budget, avoid going to 'fancy' restaurants or restaurants all together! As said in the 'knowledge' section, be aware of any grocery stores near you! My hotel had a microwave to use free of charge so we could of bought microwave meals from Lidl but we were naive and young! I would avoid going to 'budget' restaurants such as McDonalds. It may seem like an easy meal but you'll just end up feeling groggy and tired, as I said, Lidl is big in France (I think) and their prices are great! Don't bring a set amount of money and no credit card! Just make sure your debit/credit card is suitable with the banks they have in Paris.

9) Bring Chargers
And an adapter! You will need to charge your devices. You will.

10) (Not really a bring but) Go to Disney Land!!!
My first time at Disney Land and it was the most magical experience ever! Don't even question it, you're in Paris, go to Disney Land! I could of just stayed there forever. Fork out a little money if you have to but if you do not go, I will be very disappointed, Paris will be disappointed and worst of all, you will be disappointed!

I took this one with my mam's phone....I'm so proud!!!!

So that raps up this post!!! I hope you have an amazing time in Paris, or wherever you're going!

Thanks for reading xoxo

Top 10 Books for the Spring/Summer

*In no particular order, I could never choose.

1) I Heart Series by Lindsey Kelk
I have to say that this series is definitely my favourite bunch 'chick-lit' books! The books basically follow a woman, Angela as she runs away to New York because she finds out her fiance is cheating on her at her best friends wedding and her best friend knew everything so she broke the grooms hand. That's just how it starts. There is I Heart New York, I Heart Hollywood, I Heart Paris, I Heart Vegas and I Heart London (not yet released). This series is such a light and easy read that you'll find you have to read it in one sitting. If you like this genre you will fall in love with the series!

 2) The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
I don't care if the books have been made into a film, you should still read the books. Why? Because they're so much better. I started reading this book quite a while ago because of a recommendation from Allthatglitters21 on YouTube. If you don't know the story, it's about this girl who volunteers as a tribute instead of her sister to fight to the death in the Hunger Games. The films are great, I went to see it and I thought Jennifer Lawrence did a good job. But the books. Oh the books. They just put so much more oomph on everything. Everything. Just read them.

3) The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien
So the book is being made into a film and you know you want to say you read the book before the film! The Hobbit follows Bilbo Baggins, Dwarves, Gandalf the wizard and Smaug the dragon as they adventure to find treasure. I decided to read this book because I wanted to read a J.R.R Tolkien story but not Lord of the Rings simply because those were too hard for me to read. The Hobbit on the other hand was a fun and a well written piece of literature that I highly recommend to anyone. It is after all a classic.

4) Harry Potter and the...Series by J.K. Rowling
I got into an argument with my friend because he said the books were rubbish and the films ruled all. I wanted to hit him because I said well that's just your opinion and he replied with 'that's everyone's opinion'. Listen, if you've read the books and disliked them, fine, just don't go trying to make the people who like them have the same viewpoint. If you dislike them and you haven't read enough of the series to make a sound judgment *cough*friend*cough* then shut up. I'll admit, some of the books do have their sucky moments but I adore them. If you need a summary of the series, please don't ask me, that is just too absurd for me too even attempt to resolve! Everytime I read Harry Potter and watch the films I feel like a little kid again. It's just one of those books (and films) where you read and watch and you always feel 'welcome', know what I mean?

5) Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
I started reading this book when I was in Paris and I become instantly hooked. It's about a girl named Hannah who committed suicide and she leaves a bunch of tapes to people giving her thirteen reasons why she did it. You basically get the tape if you were a reason. Clay Jensen gets the tapes and the book follows him as he listens to them waiting to see what number he is of the 13. This book is quite brilliant and I would recommend it to anyone. Not a very light read, but very gripping.

6) Sister by Rosamund Lupton
Okay, so not a light spring read again but I love the deep stuff! This book is about a woman searching for her missing sister. While searching, the case unravels down many different routes and Beatrice (the searcher) finds out how little she actually knew about Tess(the searchee). This was another book I couldn't put down. I've never been one to read thriller/missing persons books but this hooked me from the second/third chapter. The beginning was a little slow for me but other than that I highly praise the book. When I finished I was left a little confused by the ending but I went with it...to Google to look for the answers. Even if you don't like thriller books, this isn't a hard read like some thrillers. Try it. It won't bite, I promise.

7) Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
Hush Hush is the first book in the series about a forbidden love between a 'normal' teenage girl and a fallen angel. I know, I know but don't crucify me, just hear me out. If you don't want to read the rest of the series (Crescendo, Silence and Finale released in Autumn 2012), just read Hush Hush. It is by far my favourite. I love it simply because of the Nora (normal) and Patch (not normal) banter. They meet in science by sitting next to each other (deja vu?) but I promise if you like Twilight you'll love this (hopefully). This is my favourite forbidden love book so it can't be that bad. Just give it a chance!

8) The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne
I know...a depressing one. But what is reading without a little depression. You simply do not have an excuse to not read this book. Ever. It is put in the most simplistic form, through the eyes of the little boy. It is set during the Holocaust and it's about a boy called Bruno who is 9 years old. He and his family move from Berlin to somewhere where there is nothing to do whatsoever. One day he comes across a wired fence and on the other side of the fence is a little boy called Shmuel who wears striped pyjamas and Bruno has no idea why he's there. Having it through the perspective of Bruno is what makes it so much more heart breaking. You won't regret reading this book, unless you really detest being sad, which lets face it, no one does.

9) To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee
You can't go wrong with an ole classic like To Kill A Mocking Bird. I first read this book at school and I enjoyed it far more than the other books I'd read at school. Recently, I read it again just for fun and it was such a more enjoyable read. This novel's kind of 'scope' is about Atticus, a lawyer who defends a black man who is charged with raping a white girl. It follows Scout and Jem Finch as they experiene life in the deep south in the 1930's as children. The 'plot' I guess you could call is many different things, all about segregation and doing what is right no matter the costs. This is a timeless classic and you can never go wrong with a timeless classic. I recommend you read this highly, even if it's just once.

10) The Vampire's Assistant by Darren Shan
Okay so this was a really hard decision to make. I was torn between L.A. Candy, My Single Friend and this for the final spot. The reason why I picked this is simply because I have already picked a chick-lit book and this book is supernatural and contains very little romance. The story is basically about Darren Shan who becomes a vampire and an assistant to another vampire. This book is quite very good, despite how adolescent it may sound. Yes, there is a film about this but I have not seen it nor will I see it. The only thing that I really disliked about this book was the way the vampires drank blood. I don't want to spoil it for you but I just think it's kind of stupid. What happened to the Anne Rice vamps? Not that I've ever read her book, I heard that reference on The Vampire Diaries. Don't judge.

So that's the list...I've just realised that these books have very little significance to Spring or Summer. Should I take that out of the title? Naaaaaa. I have bought more 'classic' books but I haven't read them yet so I couldn't really put them on the list. Maybe if anyone reads this I'll update it later. I'm not desperate for your reads but please read. I'm not asking...I'm telling. Okay, if you're still reading this, well done. You've passed the test. I'm going to shut up now.
